Academic English

Our Academic English course is designed to prepare students wishing to study at university in the UK or any English speaking country. The morning classes will concentrate on improving your level of general English, as used in an academic context, and will develop all aspects – grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading and writing. The afternoon classes will concentrate on the specific skills you will need to study successfully in English at universities – note taking, presentation skills, reading skills, report and essay writing skills.

In addition, RLC is the IELTS test centre for the area, so students can book to take the IELTS test at the school, either before or after completing the course, if they wish. The school also runs regular IELTS exam preparation evening courses, two evenings a week.

The Class Tutor is responsible for the progress and academic welfare of the class. Homework is set and student progress is discussed at the weekly Teachers' Meeting.
