If you are taking the IELTS test as part of a visa application to stay or move to the UK, you cannot take the IELTS test at Richard Language College. It is your responsibility to be sure you are booking the right test. No refund will be made in such cases.
WHICH IELTS TEST SHOULD YOU TAKE?
There are two IELTS tests available – IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training.
IELTS Academic Module
IELTS Academic measures whether your level of English language proficiency is suitable for an academic environment. It reflects aspects of academic language and evaluates whether you are ready to begin training or studying.
Take this test if you want to:
1. study at an undergraduate level or postgraduate level anywhere in the world
2. apply for Tier 4 Student Visa at a university that is a Tier 4 Sponsor in the UK
3. register with a professional organisation e.g. a medical council.
IELTS General Training Module
IELTS General Training measures English language proficiency in a practical, everyday context. The tasks and tests reflect both workplace and social situations.
Take this test if you would like to:
1. Study or train below degree level
2. Work or undertake work related training in an English-speaking country
3. emigrate to English-speaking countries such as Australia, New Zealand or Canada
4. get another job in your own country.

4. Read and agree to ‘Terms and Conditions’ and then click on the ‘Continue’ button at the bottom of the page.
5. Complete the IELTS application.
6. Upload your identity document.

PAY FOR YOUR TEST
Pay for your test:
1. Do not make payment until you have completed an online application and received your test reference number in the confirmation email.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
If you wish to cancel your IELTS test,
Please click here to contact the IELTS Administrator as far in advance as possible. If you cancel your IELTS test up to five weeks before your test date, you’ll receive a refund minus an administration fee that is 25% of the test fee.
Please be aware that refunds can take four to six weeks to process.
If you need to change the date of your test, you can request a test day transfer up to five weeks before the test date – for an administration fee of 25% of the test.
Please note that if you are cancelling the test for a medical reason, then medical evidence needs to be submitted in the five days following the test. This will be assessed for eligibility by the test centre.
If you are taking the IELTS test as part of a visa application to stay or move to the UK, you cannot take the IELTS test at Richard Language College. It is your responsibility to be sure you are booking the right test. No refund will be made in such cases.
No refund will be made if a request is received after midnight on the Thursday before the test date.
SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS
Our official IELTS test centre can help if you have visual, hearing, speaking or learning difficulties. If you need a modified version of IELTS, please give the test centre three months’ notice.
The centre will need specialist medical evidence of your condition.
If special arrangements (for example, extra time) need to be made then please give the test centre six weeks' notice.
Your English language ability will be assessed objectively, regardless of any disability or special needs that you may have.
Special arrangements include:

special Listening CD with necessary stops and pauses

lip-reading version of the Listening test

enlarged print or Speaking task cards in Braille.
If you have a visual impairment, we can provide:

You must bring the original of Passport or National Identity Card that you used on your application. (For all countries outside the EU & Switzerland it must be your passport)

20-minute Speaking Tests Individual times to be confirmed after the end of the Writing Test, once we know if any candidates are absent.
At this IELTS Test Centre, the Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking Tests all normally take place on the same day.
The Listening, Reading, Writing tests are in the morning.
The Speaking tests are normally on the same day in the afternoon.
Test takers under 18 must complete an IELTS Consent Form.

RESULTS AND IELTS SCORES
Receive your IELTS results quickly
You won’t have to wait long to receive your IELTS test results. You can view your results online 13 days after your test.
IELTS test results remain online for 28 days but cannot be used as an official confirmation of your performance.

Your IELTS Test Report Form (TRF)
A paper copy of your IELTS test score – known as an IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) – will be posted by first class mail or air mail to the address(es) given on the IELTS Application Form by 10am 13 days after the test.
If you have moved since application, you should inform the IELTS Office.
Please note: that your IELTS test results cannot be disclosed via email or over the phone.
Understanding your IELTS score
You will be awarded an IELTS band score from 0-9 for each test section, which reflects your proficiency in English.
Your IELTS Test Report Form will show a score for each of the four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking) and an overall band score. You can score whole band scores (for example 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) or half band scores (e.g. 5.5, 6.5, 7.5) in every section of the test.
Enquiry on results
If you would like to make an enquiry about your test results, you need to apply at the centre where you booked your test within six weeks of your test date. You can choose which sections of the test you want to have re-marked. The fee is £115 irrespective of how many sections you want to have remarked.
Apply for your IELTS Enquiry on Results from the account on which you registered for the test.
There is a charge for an enquiry on IELTS test results, however this charge will be refunded if your score increases for any section of the test. The fee of £115 is refunded if your IELTS Result is raised by the British Council Senior Examiner.
Your result will normally be available in 2-21 days, this depends on several factors including the number of sections requested for re-mark.
If you have not received a response after 28 days, please contact your test centre.
Sending your TRF directly to the institutions you are applying to:
Institutions need original copies of your IELTS Test Report Form. Photocopies will not be accepted.
You can download an Application for the Issue of Additional TRFs . Complete it and send it electronically to the centre where you booked your test.
You must make this request within two years of the test date. There is no charge for sending by mail or airmail, but if you want a tracked courier service this must be arranged and paid for by you and you must inform the centre.
Complaint regarding the conduct of the IELTS Test
You must request an IELTS Complaint Form for Candidates from the Test-Day Administrator. You should use this form to describe the nature of your complaint. If you are making a complaint about an incident on the test day, this form must be submitted on the test day. No complaint can be processed after your results have been released by your test centre. Please note that results cannot be issued until the complaint has been investigated and resolved.
