Richard Language College: About Bournemouth

Bournemouth is one of England's Premier seaside resorts. It boasts some of England's best beaches and includes 12km of European "Blue Flag" award winning sandy beaches. The town enjoys one of the best climates in the country. Bournemouth has a strong tradition of tourism, and there are many interesting and entertaining things to do.

We are surrounded by stunning areas of natural beauty, which include: The New Forest" which has recently been awarded national park status, and "Dorset's Jurassic Coastline", where many important prehistoric finds have been made. Poole Harbour, which can be seen from Bournemouth's clifftops, is the largest natural harbour in the world after Sydney. The Harbour has several islands, the largest of which is Brownsea Island, popular for walks and nature watching. In the summer it also hosts open-air Shakespeare plays.
Bournemouth is well connected by road, rail and international airport, from which frequent chartered flights take off. There are many historic towns and cities in Southern England including: London, Winchester (the former capital of England), Bath, Stonehenge, Weymouth, Salisbury, Poole and Christchurch. London is just 2 hours away by train.
Many tens of thousands of language students visit Bournemouth each year, and the University and Bournemouth and Poole College have many young people enrolled in the area. Bournemouth is also visited by people from all over Britain who come for the nightlife, sport and nature. It has over 40 night clubs, 350 Restaurants and bars.
